My work as a painter has been described as everything from dramatic women and children to
chaotic and inexplicably beautiful and emotional expressions. I am often inspired by traditional
African combs due to the several stories and historical accounts I heard told about them. I often
use them in my work.
I blot out the present as soon as I start painting and rely on my inspiration and my intuition.
Every brush stroke laid was destined to be laid and if it gets covered, it was destined to be covered
Any shade, tone or tint of colour is there because it was destined to be there.
My work is not easy to analyse and that adds to the beauty of it. The rendition of my women and
children as though through a filtration of artistic vision, results in sublime images that transcend
our world to lie somewhere between the realms of reality and imagination. My work has been
commissioned and collected by lovers and patrons of art both locally and abroad
